A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and elder statesman,
Prince Benjamin Apugo has expressed happiness with the leadership style of Governor Alex Otti in Abia state,saying that Abia has come to stay under him.
Prince Apugo was speaking in an interview with news men after a private visit to the Governor in his country home, Nvosi, IsialaNgwa South LGA.
He said his concern is Abia State and the welfare of Ndi Abia , maintaining that today, he is happy about what is happening in Abia.
Prince Apugo, who said he is not interested or bordered about political party leanings, added that he is impressed with what Governor Otti is doing in the state
” My party does not mean anything to me, I am a chieftain of the APC, a member National Board of Trustees , member of the National Caucus of the APC . My concern is my state today. Today I am happy about what is happening in my state.
“Before he (Dr. Otti) won the election, I told Abia people to vote for him not minding the position I am having in my party.
I never bordered of the candidate of the APC . We had none. I told Abia people that this man will bring us back to life. That’s what I told them and all of them listened to me. And what I have said that time is no longer myself alone now, that is saying it. Everybody is saying that Abia has come to stay.”
According to him, those that have governed Abia state for the past 24 years did not do well as they merely looted Abia,stressing that one cannot see what they achieved.
He said Dr. Otti has done what he wanted him to do, saying that, he (Dr. Otti) would now have to advice others who would succeed him to listen to the people and perform what the people would desire from the government.
