Abia State Government Collaborates With Global Management Resource Centre To Train It’s Key Officers

Abia state Government has organized a two days leadership workshop for Permanent Secretaries,Directors and HODs in MDAs in the state.

The two days programme with the theme” Leading The Current Civil /Public Service :Re-thinking & Re-Jigging Leadership Capabilities,Skills and Styles,
took place at Michael Okpara Auditorium and was organized by the State Head of service,,Mrs Ngozi Obioma .

The Head of Service,Mrs Ngozi Obioma while delivering her address disclosed that the leadership workshop is tailored to promote and input good leadership capabilities ,skills and styles on leaders in the various MDAs In Abia state .

she reiterated that it should not be a welcome development to ascend the seat of power only to lead carelessly maintaining that there must be need to harmonise our mentality and upgrade knowledge towards leading others.

she further stated that the need to have leaders who have enhanced relationship with the public and civil servants made it necessary to collaborate with the body,Global Managenent Resource Centre in order to bring to Abia state door steps the leadership program.

The Head of Service pointed out that her expectation at the end of the training is a re-orientation of mindset on what it takes to relate with Humans.

According to her “chaotic relationship will reduce qualitative service and human empathy must be shown adding that change of behaviour /serenity in the dormain of those trained leaders must be paramount by the reason of the knowledge they have acquired.

Contributing , some of the resource persons, Prof.Mrs Osorochi P Obi,Engr. Sylvester Chiemeka,Mr Enyinnah Iheanyi,called on the trainees not to involve themselves in political activities as well as to stand on the truth and uphold every other thing that will enhance effective service delivery in the civil service.

They ,however, revealed that adding values to others will strengthen their leadership qualities and influence.

Earlier during the workshop, the Permanent Secretaries were trained by the experts on: Understanding the concepts, principles and best practices in leadership and management.

There were also lectures on exploring leadership changes and prospects, team leadership and 21st century skills & competence.

The Permanent Secretaries were equally trained on driving new governance agenda and changes in Abia State as well as rethinking and rejigging leadership capabilities and skills.

In their seperate remarks,some of the trainees including the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Information,Mr Christain Onwuegbu and his counterpart in Ministry of Trade,Commerce and Industry,Mrs Meg Onwu thanked the state Head of service , Mrs Ngozi Obioma and leadership of Global Management Resources for Organsing the workshop and assured that they will put in practice all they have been taught in the discharge of their duties.

Highlight of the programme was presentation of certificates to the participants.
