Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has reemphasized that he is not doing Abians any favour by doing roads but only carrying out the responsibilities of government.

This is as Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has saluted Abians on the new lease of life they are enjoying under the leadership of Dr Alex Otti government.

The Governors were speaking at the thanksgiving service organized by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejiocha to thank God for His bountiful mercies over her life, held at Peace Event centre, Amuda, Isuochi, Umunneochi LGA, Abia State.

Governor Alex Otti said that all government is doing is to make life better for the people.
“When we are building roads, it is not a favour, we want to create access so that people can go about their businesses freely and smoothly.”

The Abia State Governor thanked the people of Umunneochi for the support they have continued to give to Hon. Onyejiocha and the support they have been giving to his government in the State. He also thanked the church for their support and prayers and urged them to sustain their prayers for his administration, saying that Abia State would be better this time around.

Governor Otti appreciated the decision of Hon. Onyejiocha to thank God,
“I want to thank the Minister for remembering to say, ‘Thank You’ to God. Like the Bishop said, it’s very easy to run away with your blessing, without acknowledging from where it came. Because you have acknowledged God and you have celebrated God in this way, celebration will never end in your house”

In his submission, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma who described Governor Otti as “one of our finest and brightest said,
“I want to use this medium to congratulate the people of Abia State for the lease of life that we are witnessing in the government of Dr. Alex Otti”

The Imo State Governor also thanked God for the good things He has done for Hon. Onyejiocha, saying that, though not reelected, she was appointed a Minister which is a testimony of her hardwork and commitment and described her as an Amazon.

Governor Uzodinma disclosed that the Governors of the South East are determined to work together to alleviate the sufferings of the people and called on the political class, irrespective of their political linings to join hands with government at all levels to provide the real essence of government, which is the security of lives and property,
“I therefore call on the politicians in Abia State, indeed in the South East to join hands together to build a new region for our people, to create an economy for our people, to create a life for our people, to develop our zone for the interest of all of us”

He maintained that, “I am particularly very delighted that this time the awareness has become so incremental to the extent that it does not matter which political party you come from. We are looking for quality service, how to serve our people, if we serve our people well, it means we have served God well, because the mind of the people is obviously the mind of God.”

Speaking, the celebrant and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha said the thanksgiving service is to prove a point about who God is and His position in one’s life.

She narrated her life experiences and how God has been her foundation and help over the years. She said that the era of relegating God to the background in Abia is over as God is taking over the State now. She assured that she was still on duty and is ready to serve at any level to make the nation great and thanked Governor Otti and all that came to identify with her.

In his sermon titled “The Power of Thanksgiving” the Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Nsuka/Ehamufu, Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Dr. John Eze stressed the need for thanksgiving unto the Lord. He
said that thanksgiving provokes the power of God into action, triggers multiplication of God’s blessings, guarantees preservation of testimonies and makes people to know that God blesses people.

The Isuochi born preacher, who appreciated Hon. Mrs. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha’s dedication to God and contributions to the development of her people, thanked God for the kind of leadership He has provided for Abia State with Governor Alex Otti in the helm of affairs.

The event attracted many dignitaries including, the Attoeney General and Minister for Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, other Ministers, members of the National Assembly, the National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, Members of the State House of Assembly, members of the Abia State Executive Council, members of the Labour Party, array of Methodist Arch Bishops and Bishops, Traditional Rulers, captains of industries among others.
