The World Communication Day

...admonishes journalists to be factual and practical about happenings


The Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu FNSE congratulated the national chairman of Catholic diocese (CAMPAN) for emerging as president. He describe it as a welcome development for an Abia man to take that position in this very dispensation.
Abia State is coming on the news for the right reasons. The world communication day is one which will have to reflect into the way communication is disseminated to the audience and how those that are not expose enough to digest such information.

He further emphasize on communication, journalist need to learn how not to be emotional and how to be factual and practical about

things that are happening and how to relate it to the public.
Engr. Emetu still speaking, as Christian, journalist should be able to learn how to look at the faces of politicians like him and speak to power without caring whose ox is gone.

Earlier in his speech, the state president Catholic Media practitioner comrade Hycient Okoli stated that the world communication day is aimed at encouraging Media literacy in Nigeria. He said that what you do as an individual or a church extend to the world so you are not just restricted as it were to the Catholic denomination. In 1967 specifically on the 7th of May the then Pop introduced the world communication day and it comes on a Sunday before Pentecost but for the church in Nigeria is a weak long thing.

Mr Okoli still speaking narrated on how the CAMPAN will be discussing on a topic with the THEME : ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE WISDOM OF THE HEART TOWARDS FULLY HUMAN COMMUNICATION.
He further stressed that the use of artificial intelligence must be discussed in such a way it should be useful to humanity without supplanting human communication.

The National President Catholic Media practitioner Mr. Chimdi Oluoha in his speech stated that the duty of this organization, a selfless one indeed like the red Cross is to evangelize through the channel of communication. Globally, each year a day is set aside for the world communication day, on that day CAMPAN in all diocese of the world gather to solve certain issues of communication as it affects the church. A proper introduction and the presentation of the newest National president Catholic Media practitioner was made by the state president Catholic Media practitioner to the deputy governor in the person of Mr. Chimdi Oluoha.

In his vote of thanks, the secretary of CAMPAN Mr. Emma Ugwu thanked the deputy governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu FNSE who despite his tight schedule gave them a warm reception.

People present are the Honourable Commissioner for information ably represented by the permanent secretary of Ministry of information Sir Chris Onwuegbu, the senior special assistant to the governor on religious matters Apostle K.C wiper and others.
