The Conservator General Calls For The Establishment Of A National Park In South East


The Conservator General National Park Abuja Dr Ibrahim Goni has called for the establishment of a National Park in South East Nigeria.

The Conservator General stated this during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Chioma Otti at the government house Umuahia. He regretted that South East remains the only zone in the country without a National Park stating that the purpose of the visit is to create awareness on the importance of establishing a National Park in the zone which according to him will not only create job opportunities but also helps to protect our environment and gives a serene vegetation.

He cautioned farmers on the use of fertilizers because it increases the intensity of carbon dioxide and advised on the sustainable use of Bush meat.

The Conservator General appealed to the Governor to always conduct Environmental Impact accessment in urban development.

Responding, the Governor,represented by his Deputy Engr Ikechukwu Emetu thanked the Conservator General for the visit urged him to use his time as the Conservator General to make Abia state to house one of the National Park in South Eastern region stating that it will go a long way to enhance tourism and generate revenue as well as job creation in the state .
