Otti Tasks ABSU Medical Graduands To Support Alma Mater


Governor Alex Otti has beckoned on Abia medical doctors who graduated from the Abia State University, Uturu, and are doing amazing things in diaspora to come back home and support the institution that gave them the foundation to get to where they are.

The Governor, who made the call on Thursday, during the 30th induction ceremony of 129 medical doctors of Abia State University, Uturu, urged them to give back to Abia State University Teaching Hospital, ABSUTH, assuring that they will not regret their decisions.

According to Otti, what government has done is just a drop in the ocean, adding that the residence accreditation is coming next and doctors allowances will be higher than others, urging them not to japa as it is not easy as it looks.

The governor, represented by the commissioner for health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, recalled what they met on ground when the present administration came on board and the Governor’s unwavering determination to change the narrative in the health sector, urging the newly inducted doctors to remember the incident that brought about the full accreditation of the college, and to give back to the present administration.

In his address, the vice chancellor, Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu, represented by the deputy vice chancellor academic, Professor Godwin Emezuo thanked the governor and Visitor to the university, Dr Alex Otti for the massive renovation of the college of medicine and the full accreditation, expressing optimism that the newly inducted doctors will be the best of the doctors.

The registrar of the medical and dental council of Nigeria, Dr Fatima Kyari, represented by Dr Victor Gbenro, who introduced the newly inducted doctors to the ethics of the profession, also led them to the oath of allegiance.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, one of the doctors, Kelechi Nwala expressed his joy for seeing this day after seven years of struggle, and thanked God and his parents for seeing him through.
He encouraged students in the profession to remain steadfast.

One of the parents of the doctors, Elder Richard Nwala could not hold his joy but attributed every success to God.

The induction ceremony also featured price giving award to the over all best graduating student, Dr Obinna Onyemachi as well as the best female graduating student, Dr Uba Udochukwu.
