National Youth Service Corps Members Admonished To Imbibe Leadership Qualities For Actualization Of Nigeria’s Dreams


Abia State Governor Charged National Youth Service Corps Members In The State To Imbibe Those Leadership Qualities Needed For The Actualization Of Nation Of Our Dream.

The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Chioma Otti have charged the National Youth Service Corps Members to Imbibe those leadership qualities needed for the actualization of the Nation of our dream.

The Governor represented by his Deputy Engr Ikechukwu Emetu stated this during the swearing-in/ opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Abia State, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umunna Bende Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor recalled that the National Youth Service Corps which was established fifty-one (51) years ago has remained relevant in the life of our dear Nation adding that its attractiveness to the Nigerian Youths has continued to swell even in the face of numerous National challenges in the country.

” My dear young Nigerians, your invitation to participate in the National Youth Service Corps program at this time of our National history is a life time opportunity for you to Imbibe those leadership qualities needed for the actualization of the Nation of our dream. I am aware that this orientation course has adequately been packaged to equip you for the task of Nation Building and challenges that lies ahead of you during the service year. I therefore enjoin you to participate actively in all the activities and programs which surely will bring out the best in you towards improving the communities where you will be posted “.

Dr Otti further urged the Corps Members to pay undivided attention to the skills acquisition and the entrepreneurial programs that will be introduced to them during the orientation adding that the welfare of the Corp members will be paramount.

In his address, the Commissioner Ministry Of Sports And Youth Development/Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba urged the Corps Members to concentrate and make the best use of there time while in the state to be part of the efforts of the government and the NYSC scheme to unite the Nation.

Earlier in her address, the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps Abia State, Bar (Mrs) Gladys Adama noted that the NYSC in recent time has recorded a paradigm shift in her programs, aligning it with the current socio-economic realities of the Nation which has witnessed the introduction and application of emotional intelligence, and the establishment of a Guidance and Counseling committee that was created to handle some of the emotional and psychological needs of the Corps Members both in camp and during their service year.

She thanked the Governor for directing the immediate rehabilitation of facilities in the orientation camp and his numerous support to the NYSC scheme .

A total number of one thousand six hundred and sixty seven (1,667) Corps Member took the oath of allegiance during the ceremony.
