MWAN Decorates Mrs. Otti As Matron

...Dr. Achor Becomes 8TH President Of MWAN




The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has been decorated as the matron, Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Abia State Chapter.

Speaking at the event which doubled as installation ceremony of Dr. Chizoba Francisca Achor as the 8th President of Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Abia State Chapter held at Unique Life Hotel Umuahia, the wife of the Governor advised the medical practitioners to focus on a crucial aspect that defines their noble profession.

Mrs. Otti stressed the need for them to remain unwavering in the adherence to their code of conduct and ethics of the profession. She reiterated that it is a commitment to serve humanity, particularly the vulnerable individuals in the society.

She maintained that taking care of the people and lifting them out of poverty is what the policy thrust of Governor Alex Otti is anchored on.

According to her, “this is a shared vision that resonates deeply with the administration of Dr. Alex Otti and the ethos of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria” she said.

She revealed that ,  from next year, Abia State government plans to initiate medical outreaches, provide free medical treatments, and more, saying that she looks forward to collaborating with the association to accomplish the objectives of the projects.

Also, speaking the Commissioner for Health in Abia State, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo affirmed Governor Otti’s commitment towards revamping the health sector in the State. She disclosed that the Governor’s commitment to the betterment of the health of Abia people made him to propose 15 percent of the 2024 budget to health.

She said that she is delighted that the association is towing the right path and urged her to continue.

Decorating the Governor’s wife, the President Medical Women International Association, Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi said that Mrs. Otti fits the elevation considering the unwavering support and partnership she will be showing to the association. She congratulated her on the elevation.

In her remarks, the 8th President of MWAN Abia State Chapter, Dr. Chizoba Francisca Achor thanked the State government for her unwavering efforts to revitalise the health sector in the State and commended her predecessors led by Dr. Patricia Ejikem

She outlined her vision for the association to include; advocating for the elimination of obnoxious widowhood practices, continuing in the campaign against sexual violence and gender based violence against women and the girl child and lot more, advocating and creating awareness for the promotion of health programmes through the world health, mentoring medical students and young medical doctors among others.
