He said that they would not stop there but would take a review of their performance and get ready for the next level of the competition.

Also, the Head coach of Abia Stars Basketball, Coach Oriakhi Osagbovo appreciated Governor Alex Otti , the Commissioner for Youth and Sports and the Abia State Director of Sports, Mr. Obioma George for their efforts in promoting basketball in Abia state. He added that they are determined to raise a formidable team for the state.

“We are trying to raise a team for the state. That’s what we’ve been doing and bringing them up in participating in this competition has been one of our targets ever since the Governor supported us with a proper equipment that is of international standard.

“We are bringing up both the junior and senior teams hoping that they would compete in more events and bring glory to Abia state.”

Coach Osagbovo expressed the hope that with more camps and preparations, the state would be very ready for the next competition that would come, adding that losing out with a point would not douse their tempo.

Contributing the Abia Stars Basketball coach, Coach Chinedu Stone and the Secretary Mrs. Pascaline Edozie said the Abia team played well and the margin for wining was only one point.

While assuring that they would intensify training for the athletes said they are happy because the basketball in Abia had been going down for a long time until the inception of Governor Alex Otti, who has given support to the team and provided the basketball realm that qualified Abia team to be able to host the competition.
