Governor Otti Vows To Raise Infrastructural Rehabilitation In Abia North Zone As Part Of His Grassroot Development Agenda

Abia state Governor,Dr Alex Otti has assured the people of Abia North Senatorial District of his resolve towards addressing infrastructural challenges in the zone as part of

his grassroot development agenda.

Governor Otti stated this during a Town Hall meeting with the 5 LGAS in Abia North Senatorial District as part of activities to mark his one year in office at the Ohafia Local government headquarters.

He said the meeting affords him an opportunity to interact with the people to identify their needs and the way forward.

“The second reason we came here is also to listen to you and I’ve listened to you. It’s also to have an interface with you because in the last twelve months, we have been running around every where and we haven’t had an opportunity to sit down”

“I’m happy that I’ve listened to you. A lot of people that spoke, spoke about roads, I’m sure you remember that about less than a year ago, there was even no road but today, we are making progress”.

“The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. I can assure you that this journey has started and it will never stop”

The Governor also used the forum to appreciate the people of Abia North for their massive support culminating in his electoral Victory last year, said his administration is poised to change the narrative across board as well as remain focused despite obvious challenges.

He reassured the person of Abia North that his government is not a government that shares money but uses the state resources to work for the people, stressing that he will submit himself to audit by the time his government is over.

“I also want to talk about accountability, government is about accountability. When people give you responsibility, you must also give them back accountability, they are two sides of the same coin. So I see some people palliatng over the action that we took as soon as we took over by instituting a forensic audit of the affairs of the last administration.
My response to them is that it is early days so, they can continue palliatng. The truth about governance is that whenever you take over, it is incumbent on you to assess how resources were used by your predecessor”

“It is on this note that I submit myself to audit, whatever you want to call it, at the time my administration is over in the next seven years”

According to Dr Otti, his administration will from next month commence local government tour of the 17 Local government councils in the state in order to have an assessment of the areas.

“That we are organizing this town hall meetings in Senatorial districts, is just the beginning.
By next month, we will start with our visitation to every local government. From there, we will move to the communities. It is just for us to hear from you and to feel your pulse and also get your assessment on how this government performed in the last 12 months”

“I’m very happy that all the assessment that people have made from different places in Abia state have been consequent.

“Of course we cannot do everything one day, of course there may be things that we’ve not done right, because we are only human and if there’s anything that we’ve not done right, bring them to us so that we can review them”

“So what I can assure you is that we have every community in mind, we have every ward in mind, we have every local government in mind”Otti assured.

In his remark, the Deputy Governor,Chief Ikechukwu Emetu who said the Town Hall meeting is designed to better the welfare of the people of Abia North enjoined them to bare their minds to the Governor, saying that Governor Alex Otti has within the period under review redefined Governance.
