Governor  Otti Inaugurates LG Coordinators ,  Orientation Officers

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has inaugurated 17 Local Government Coordinators and 17 Orientation Officers for the State Orientation Agency in the LGAs with a charge for them to be agent of of positive change in the State.

Inaugurating the Coordinators and Officers at the Abia State Orientation Agency headquarters, Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti said they should see their inauguration as a solemn call that has come at a time that Abia State needs to be transformed.

The Governor, represented by the
Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu explained the type of change the administration is talking about,
“So the change we are talking about in this administration is not just a change of people, we are changing mindset, when you change mindset, you are changing process, you are changing outcome and eventually you change the narrative.”

Governor Otti said that the Orientation Agency is critical instrument of the government that would help to begin to change the mindset of the people. He insisted that,
“We must change the outcome. Changing outcome means we have to see our roads well done, people should know that it is wrong to litter our roads, people should know that it is proper to pay our taxes, the government will also realize that it is important to rebuild our hospitals, rebuild our schools, people must be on the que, people who are not qualified will not be hired. That is the change we are talking about”

Earlier, the Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo said that the essence of the inauguration of the officials was to assist the Agency in the realization of its mandate, adding that their inauguration would be an added impetus to the full actualization of the mandate of the Agency in the LGAs

He described the inauguration as a major milestone in kick-starting the actualizing of the mandate of the Abia State Orientation Agency. He further explained that the Agency was established to among othe things, to carry an effective orientation and reorientation of the behaviour parttern of Abia citizens and residenta to reduce the incidencies of antisocial behave, crime and criminality, build, promote and sustain good image for the State government, organize lectures , seminars workshops and interactive sessions with interest groups such as traders ,schools , churches as a way of inculcating good ethical behaviour in them.

Responding on behalf of other Coordinators and Officers, the Coordinator for Osisioma LGA, Sir Precious Aguwa assured they would live up to expectations as change agents and drivers of the New Abia to deliver on the mandate of orientating the people on the programmes and activities.

He appreciated the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve in the Orientation Agency and thanked him for the appointment of Pastor Dike Nwankwo as the Director General of the Agency, which he described as a fitting appointment.
