Journalists Relocate To Otamkpa

...As Abia NUJ Vice Chairman, Asonye Buries Mother

The body of late Mrs Joy Asonye nee Igwe , 76 ,  the mother of  the Vice Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abia State Council, Comrade Chidi Asonye and Comrade Nwamara Chekube,  has been laid to rest at her compound in Akoba Otamkpa, Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State.

Preaching during the funeral conducted by Abosso Apostolic Faith Church, Mgbelu Otamkpa, Pastor Sunday Ndukwe told Christians to choose whom to follow between Our Lord Jesus Christ, or Satan.

The Priest ,Pastor Ndukwe  who preached from Hebrew 9:29 and John 11: 25-26,  lamented the  level of hatred and discord presently found within the  family, community and church at large, reminded Christians that reward for good is eternal life in Heaven while the wages of sin is death in hell fire.

He further charged Christians to live life worthy of emulation and praised the life and timely contributions of Mrs Joy Asonye to her family, women society,  community and the  Church.

Earlier in his tribute to his dear mother, the Vice Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abia State Council ,Comrade Chidi Asonye said his mother would be remembered for  caring for those around her and for  sharing every little thing she had, with those in need.

Comrade Asonye  who further noted that his departed mother rekindled the hope of people within her locality and also trained her children in the ways of God, said the children of the matriarch would sustain her loving legacies.

He appreciated the Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and other friends of the Asonye family for identifying with them, at their period of grief, praying God to abundantly bless all that came to Otamkpa.

The event was attended by top notch of Journalism community including  three former Chairmen of NUJ, Abia State Council, Comrades, Ambrose Nwachukwu, , the Acting Director General of the Broadcasting  Corporation of Abia State (BCA) , Comrade Hyacinth Okoli and a Director of Information in the Abia State Civil Service, Comrade John Emejor.

Also present were the NUJ Chairman, Abia State Council,  Comrade Victor Ndukwe, NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Josephine Ogwo  , a National Officer of NUJ,  HRH, Ezeogo Boniface Okoro , Comrade Sam Odita of News Agency of Nigeria, Udoka Agwu of Business Day, Members of the Unity Federated Chapel, led by Comrade Felix Obani among other Journalists.

Equally at the burial were Alison Obiajunwa (Dee Ali) of Zik FM,, Sir  Mishack Nnannta of  World Igbo Union, Members of the  Abia State chapter of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
