Abia State Government To Build A Modern City Market To Relocate Isi Gate Market

has guaranteed a modern capital city market for Umuahia.

Emetu stated this when he received in audience, the host community for the market, Umuizu Okwulaga Afara-Ukwu in Umuahia North LGA led by HRH Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi, Okwu I of Okwulaga Afara-Ukwu Ibeku.

The Deputy Governor stated that the modern market will have a mini bridge and befitting structures deserving of a modern market.

In his speech, the General Manager, Umuahia Capital Development Authority, Mr. Kingsley Agomoh regretted that the Ishigate Market has defaced Umuahia as a capital city, but expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for showing special interest to give leverage to a better Umuahia Capital City.

He described the market as one with five access roads and a driving time of less than five minutes from different locations in Umuahia town. He thanked HRH, Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi for his commitment towards ensuring that a better market is built.

In his address, the traditional ruler of Okwulaga Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, HRH Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi expressed belief in the politics of “Talk and Do”, and thanked the Deputy Governor for the attention given to Ishigate as regards the current free flow of traffic. He equally thanked Governor Otti for his major transformative works so far which will certainly earn him a second term in office.

He assured of the community’s support and assistance in the realization of the project.

In their different speeches, Chief Engr. Emeka Ezebuiro and Mr. Amarachi Alozie, Chairmen, Land Development Committee of Okwulaga and Umuizu Village respectively, expressed joy and readiness of the community to liaise with Umuahia Capital Development Authority to see to the smooth and successful building of a modern market for the benefit of all Abians.
